It’s hard to believe we just started our sixth Video KAL. I am floored and honored that over 2000 knitters have joined in. We rolled out badges for the knitters who were in two or more of my previous KALs (Corcoran KAL, Tortola KAL,Soho Slip Stitch KAL, Rising Spades KAL and Costa Maya KAL). And now . . […]
But then again to few to mention. Over the years I’ve knit things I’ve liked and I’ve knit things that . . . well . . . It’s time for true confessions and to reveal my Top 5 Knitting Regrets
The air is starting to cool down and that means I’m moving into the CRAZY busy fall / winter teaching schedule. I’m sure to be someplace near by you, so leave me a comment and let me know which event you are planning on attending. Don’t forget, if you know a shop or guild that […]
As any knitter worth their needles knows, it’s not always about the yarn. There’s a lot of accessories that come with this obsession, and if you’re like me you’ve gone through your fair share of stitch markers, tape measures, and tapestry needles. But no accessory is so much fun to acquire as the project bag. […]
I love sweaters. I love to knit sweaters. I love to wear sweaters. I have knit some great ones and some not great ones. Over the years I’ve made just about every sweater mistake that can be made. We have many video sweater class on my education platform (jump in anytime!), and it seemed like […]
Swatching for the Harbor Springs Video KAL is a great opportunity to talk about fit and the ever-mysterious concept of “ease.” In the video sweater class for Costa Maya I showed the same sweater tried on several different body types (The Many Shapes of Costa Maya.) This really helped people see how the same sweater […]
Recently I wrote about how I designed the cables in the Early Fall Vogue Maker feature cardigan. I was very happy how the sweater turned out, but it was not without a few bumps in the road. Today I reveal a bit of riiiiiping that every knitter must go through!

Recently I was honored and thrilled to be featured in Vogue Knitting Early Fall issue in their “Maker Feature”. I worked very hard on the cabled sweater of my dreams. Along the way the sweater had many adventures. It went with me on all my work travels and on vacation with my family. It also […]
For most of my life, organization has not been just a helper, it’s been a necessity. My careers in both theater and LYS management demanded first-rate organization techniques, and I’m grateful for the lifetime of practice. Now that I’m self-employed, if I didn’t have all the systems in place that I do I’m sure I’d […]
This month I was honored to be featured in the Vogue Knitting as one of the “Makers.” I wanted to create something really special so I designed the cable cardigan of my dreams. Later this month I’ll write about how I designed the cables, but for now it’s time to look at a special cast […]

Well, summer’s begun, and with it comes a flurry of activity! Here in Brooklyn kids are running around the neighborhood at all hours, and everyone is heading to the park in droves. It makes me thankful to have a quiet garden to retreat to, when I get the chance.
The Costa Maya KAL has wrapped up, and now I’m experiencing that same bittersweet feeling of pride and loss that comes with the end of a wonderful experience. Not unlike the wrapping of a show when I was working in theater. Even though it’s a little sad to say goodbye to Costa Maya, I’m once […]
Another Video KAL comes to an end and I’ll tell the truth, this one was special. Over 650 knitters joined in and the results have been truly amazing, Costa Maya was one of the most challenging things I’ve designed and wow, did these knitter’s rise to the challenge! Last month, I provided a sneek peek behind the […]
